I admire anyone who does weddings. I really do. It involved so much work. I did a few and they were exhausting la. But I like it, if not too often :). How do you juggle your time Mike? Do you hold a permanent 9 to 5 job as well? And perhaps you could give me tips on how to make taking weddings photos a fruitful one and at the same time an enjoyable thing to do :). It would really help me with my struggle cause I have a couple of wedding jobs coming up. Thanks Mike.
Yes, I hold a permanent 8:30-5:00, 5-day a week job.
So very free on Saturdays and Sundays, except for church service of-course.
For tips, actually I plan before hand.
I'll meet the person a week earlier and ask in "DETAILS" what the schedule and customs going to be like, because different families, different rules.
I'll also go to the extend of visiting that place too so that I roughly know what's the setup would be in terms of whether enough lightings or not etc .......
This I believe will make the relationship with the client closer and also builds the confidence as well.
So from there I can plan what lens to use for that particular place, what settings or white balance, what bounce for flash whether from ceiling or other ways.
So when the time comes, I'll be always ahead of the schedule, time were not wasted and moments were not missed ....... makes your life and the other party's much easier too!
So, during that actual day, you'll be more relaxed and find enjoying yourself instead.
Actually I learnt all these during my film photography days because every shot counts, no Photoshop to rescue your photos!
You'll be FIRED man if you cannot produce! Ha!Ha!Ha!
So, with all these settings in mind, I practically don't need to adjust anything in Photoshop.
The photos you see are mostly 95% original photos.
So I only spend time to do the montage and collage in Photoshop.
That also I do about 10 photos only for each.
Basically I only shoot about 150-200 max for each wedding, sometimes 250-300 if the wedding is whole day from early morning to midnight.
So, all in all, I can finish processing the whole set in one night. Ha!Ha!Ha!
Hope this info or tips helpful?
